About Rachel

Over time I have developed the skills and experience to engage even the most cynical urbanite in their own nature discovery. I really do know what works. Not least because I use everything I teach in my own day-to-day life. This was tested more than ever after the pandemic when I lost the ability to walk for a year, due to a neurological condition. I was forced to apply all my learning to connect with nature from my bed, watching clouds in the sky or listening to sound recordings of birds in the garden. This is how Nature Fix online membership space was born. As I recovered, I ventured out to make videos and sound recordings to help me through the ‘bad days’ and eventually built an almanac of resources through the year.

I have always found healing and comfort in nature. From making mud pies in the garden as a child to sitting under a tree, listening to the birds as an adult, nature is my place of sanctuary. I have enjoyed helping hundreds of people to find their own connection with nature through working with galleries and museums, developing projects based on their exhibitions, collections or gardens.

In addition to designing nature connection programmes for arts and heritage I work with academic partners, most recently as Artist in Residence for University of Huddersfield Cultures of Creative Health programme. I also work with nature charities, including national parks, Woodland Trust, The National Forest.
